Hurrah and thanks to the 50-some neighbors (mostly adults, some kids) who came to the summer picnic, braving the 90-some degree heat…and then we were surprised to find that, in the shade and with the breeze, it was actually pleasant. The food was a fabulous distraction, from brats-in-a-bun to vegan slaw, lemony potato salad to fresh fruit salad, strawberry pie to heaping plates of gorgeous brownies—a ten-foot spread of tasty and varied picnic food. A few people played badminton but mostly there was talking and talking, people obviously enjoying the chance to meet others who live in the neighborhood. Cheers for upper-Tenbrook’s Meg DeFrancesco, who was the primary organizer of this year’s event.
