Saturday, September 15, 2018; 4 t0 5 p.m. Let’s enjoy some sidewalk views of trees in the Sligo Woods neighborhood, in front yards as well as streetside–during an hour’s stroll together, co-led by Kit Gage and Laura Mol. Begins at Tenbrook Drive & Robin Road (top of the “Kids Sledding Hill”). Light spatters won’t get in the way but the walk will be cancelled in the event of serious rain; watch for email and website announcement, if necessary.
Monday, September 17, 2018; 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Following the usual updates and news exchanges at the start of our quarterly Civic Association meetings, we will hear Kit Gage talk about neighborhood trees–their part in the beauty and in the working web of life in our community, our contribution to their health and care in our yards, and how to find the right tree for the right place when it’s the right time to plant (or have planted). Kit lives in a neighborhood a few miles south of us and brings very-local experience as a home gardener and landscape advisor, as well as many years of leadership and service within Friends of Sligo Creek. Come to the back entrance (the one with a couple steps down to the preschool entrance), directly off the parking lot behind Good Shepherd Church, 818 University Blvd W–from the stop light at Gabel, turn right onto University, and then right again into the driveway of the church). All are welcome; light refreshments.
